Human Rights in the USA

I recently read an article that got me thinking.... as Americans, we claim to have the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but I just realized (duh) that they have obligations and restrictions and limits. You can have your life... if you don't murder because then we'll take YOUR life away from you. You can have your liberty, but if you break any law, you can be incarcerated, taking away your liberty.

And your pursuit of happiness.... not the guarantee but the pursuit... with the constant struggle to pay our bills, the current police state of towns in Colorado, the horrible news on the TV, the massive job layoffs, the rising costs of basics like food and shelter, and health problems from poisoned (salmonella) food and pollution surround our every movement and breath... how can we feel enough hope to pursue happiness? It's hard.

We The People may be guaranteed these in our Declaration, but I'm thinking those were just words hoped, but not truly created.

I don't know where I'm going with this. We try very hard to not discuss political or religious topics here because those are such hot buttons. But I had to type the above because it concerns me.
